An Eye Opener

I have never expected that the fights between Muslims and Non-Muslims are in almost every country. I have just read a book called 'The Politics and Government of South East Asia' on Islam in each ASEAN countries.

Based on what I have read, I am quite surprised on the discrimination against Islam in Burma. Muslims lived in Arakan and it is bounded to the north-west by Bangladesh, and to the north by India and their local language is Rohingya also their population is estimated as 4 million. Conflict between Muslim and Burmese- Maghs started in 1942 when both Burmese and Maghs jointly conspired to depopulate the Rohingyas and they have created a dreadful massacre in which more that 100 000 Rohingyas were killed. It will not be a shocked if all they did were closing up the schools and not allowing the Rohingyas to be in the government system or whatsoever. It is such a shocked when the Maghs used their powerful exploitative group and secretly planned the systematic extermination of the Rohingyas Muslims. As a results, thousands of innocent Rohingyas were put into prison, hundreds of them were killed, the Rohingyas women were raped, religious sites were desecreted and the old were tortured. To escape this, the Rohingyas had to flee to Bangladesh to seek for shelter and security in 1978.

In 1988, General Sau Maung has faithfully following the policies Ne win set up agaist the Rohingyas and thus he put Rohingyas students into prison. tortured them, deployed army in Rohingyas areas, uprooted many Rohingyas villages and established millitary camps and Buddhist settlements. The Rohingyas Muslims were victims of killing, tortured, and rape. The consequences, Rohingyas that seeks for help becomes the refugee in another country. Why is this so?The above statement happened years ago.

Looking at the present times, in Malaysia. What is the status of Islam in our country? It's true that Islam is the official religion of the country as stated in the Federal Constitution Article 3(1) maintains that 'Islam is the religion of the Federation: but other religions may be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the Federation'. This clause certainly provides the distinctive position of Islam in this country. But, looking at the situation in our country now, I really couldn't see the position of our religion. Yes, our Agong is a Muslim, our PM is a Muslim but do the position of Islam really preserves by them? I might not have a-lot of knowledge about this but based on my observation, I can see that the Muslims or I can say the Malays now have done a really bad job in preserving their own race and religion. What have they done to preserve their rights? A DEMONSTRATION? That's not the way. Other races for example Chinese. Only once I heard that one of their temple have to be moved to some other places and they have made a huge issue on it. There were quite a number of mosque that has been 'bulldozed' away for development but have we said anything to stop that? I don't think so. Teoh Beng Hock's case which has been a huge issue this year that was claimed by the Chinese that it was some sort of discrimination towards the Chinese but based on what I have read, the case not only involved TBH ( Chinese) but also a Malay. Have the Malays say anything to defend this case? No?

Not only that, in Bangsar, there were a number of Islamic Kindergarden that were instructed to closed down for so called development but surpringly, other Kindergardens along the same road have not received any intruction to close down? Hurmm..Have anyone done something? Not even the Government who claimed to be the one who will preserve Islam in our country? I don't think so. Seriously I'm asking. Who is the one that is responsible in preserving our religion now? What are the Malays doing now? Blaming each other?

Again I'm asking, what is the status of Islam in our country right now? Right now, I'm looking at the argument between Malays. So, where is the Malay unity? Why when something happend to other races, they make a big-fuss about it and when something happened to the Malays, no one says anything?

I might not have a strong argument on those stated above but I am just wondering. I am a student and I need answers. It has always been Muslims against Non-Muslim and Malays against other races. Why is this so?

Love,
MARL

And I can see clearly
If anybody asks u who I am

And I'm that little bit of hope
When my backs against the ropes
I can feel it mmm
I'm the worlds greatest

I am a giant
I am an eagle
I am a lion
Down in the jungle
I am a marchin' band
I am the people
I am a helpin' hand
And I am a hero
If anybody asks u who I am

Bangkok Craze

Hey there peeps,

For your information, I just came back from Bangkok on Wednesday and the tiredness is still not fully gone yet. It was a hell of a HOLIDAY!

Day 1- Arrival
Me and my family arrived at Survanabhumi Airport at around 11.30am Bangkok time and that was 12.30pm Malaysia time cause you know, Malaysia's time is one hour earlier than Thailand. As soon as we arrived the tour agency has been waiting for us there in the airport and so we were on our way to the hotel that was First Hotel. The hotel is not a 5 or 4 star hotel. It was just a 3 star hotel and it is located at the Pratunam area and F.Y.I it is along the main road. But, the hotel is ok and it provides us with Halal meal for Breakfast and Dinner. So, we are FINE! We reached the hotel at around 12.30pm to 1.00pm local time cause of traffic jam. I must tell you this, the jam in Bangkok are far worse than ours here. So, don't complain much. Next, we checked-in into the hotel for 4 days 3 nights. Coincidencely my dad has friends there in Bangkok because they work for ESSO that is based in Bangkok and so one of my dad's friend - ABDUN came to see us in the hotel and he brought us to where ever that we wanted to go.

That is him by the way.Not to mention, he has 2 kids going on 3. LOL! After the meet and greet session with Abdun, we hopped on a taxi and on our way to ChaChuChak Market but something went wrong when my dad forgot to book our tour for the next day. What we had to do was to turn back to the hotel and the most wasted thing was that we don't have time to go to ChaChuChak Market cause they closes at 6.00pm. What a shame! Fortunately, Abdun had a second plan that was to go to Siam Paragon to eat our lunch. It was around 5.00pm. We took a taxi and went down at Siam Paragon then we walked to the Central World to eat at one Halal Restaurant that I did not catch it's name. There, for the first time I had MOJITO! Somewhere they said that it is the best drink in MIAMI? But of course it was not alchoholic.

After the lunch/Hi-Tea, we took a taxi to Suan Lum Night Market. To describe the place - think about Petaling Street. It's like that, only that it's bigger! I bought few sourveniers for friends and cousins. My mum bought some for her friends and my aunties. Most of the time we bought things as sourveniers and not for ourselves. We are good people. Kidding! We did not spent much time there cause most of the stalls/kiosk sell pretty much the same things only that you need to know how to bargain.

Next, we hoped on the Tut-Tut to a place called Nana. Other name for it is Arab Street. This is where most of the Arabs come to Bangkok and stay there. My dad said that it looks like a street in Madinah but I couldn't recall that. We ate at one of the restaurant there. The specialty was Beriani and it was not bad! It tasted different. Not my favourite. As we finished our dinner, it is already the end of the day. We took a taxi back to the hotel and say bye-bye to Abdun. We did not see him again the next day.

Day 2 - Tour Day

Day 2 was a Full Day Tour. We had to wake up at 5.00 in the morning just to catch the bus at 6.30am. They had to pick us up early because of the traffic jam and so on. There were 5 hotels to pick up the passenger from. After all 5 hotels, we were on our way to the first stop that was the Floating Market. It was a hell of an experience to see the floating market. It was INCREDIBLE to see that there is still such a place in this world that is still nurturing the tradition. There were hundreds of Sampan and a boat that they called Turbo Boat. But it was actually just a sampan with motors. What I love about this place was the scenery of course, the experince of shopping from one sampan to one sampan and the most exciting thing for me was it's a place with extraodinary picture scene. It doesn't matter from which angle you snap a picture from it will be incredible and amazing. The lighting of the place and the whole scene. It's Incredible! I love that place. There's one thing I need to remind you is that the things at that place is quite expensive compared to other places. So, need not to buy.

After floating market, about 5 minutes in the coach we reached at an elephant farm. The only thing we did there was elephant riding and that's it. It was a nice experince but it was too long. A half-an-hour ride. It's fine for anyone who likes the nature. Next stop was the Samphran Crocodile Farm. It was kinda boring there cause all we did were watching show after show. First show was elephant show and the second was crocodile show. Shows that I could not understand a single word they're saying but it's fine. The elephant show was quite interesting compared to the crocodile show which was kinda boring. The best part here was the lunch. In the package there's a luch package for the whole family. The food was awesome! I'm afraid that's all we did there.

After a 5 minutes drive, we arrived at a Snake Farm which only my brother and my dad went inside. I stayed outside with my mum so as two other ladies. One because it was kinda expensive and another-snakes are not my favourite animal. To fill up the time, our tour guide brought the 4 of us to one handicraft place that is called ThaiHandicraft Centre. It was interesting to see how they make a crafted tables and so on.

Not long after we arrived at Rose Garden Bangkok, Thailand. We were kind of rushing to get there to catch the cultural performance. By the way, that's the only thing we did there. There's not enough time for us to walk around the garden. All we did - watch the show and head back to the coach to go somewhere else. The last stop was the Gems Factory. There were lots and lots of jewellery where there were some that were crazy over the jewellery and bought almost thousands baht. As for me, I only bought a ring which costs only 800 Baht and that is RM 80.00. It's Silver ring.

And that's the end of Day 2!

Stay on for another 2 days!I'll be back!
