How Do I Celebrate Merdeka?

Hey peeps,

Perhaps I should change the title to "How Do We Celebrate Merdeka?". Yes, for those of you who didn't know this, let me tell you. We - UiTM students do celebrate Merdeka...by our own way. The best way I can tell you. For Malaysian, you should know that today on the 31st August is Merdeka day. For others who didn't know this, Malaya achieved its independence on the 31st August 1957 from the British after more than 200 years being under other powers. First started in 1511 where the Portugis colonised Malaya. Continued with the Dutch then the British. Before the World War II, British lost its power and Malaya was colonised by the Japanese. As soon as the World War II ended, Japan surrendered and gave its power back to the British. As time passed by, the Malays realised that they can rule their own country thus they tried to seek for independence. Many efforts done by the British to avoid this. Anyhow, the Malays still got through with it. Thus, on 31st August 1957, everyone gathered at the Dataran Merdeka to hear for the first time 'MERDEKA, MERDEKA, MERDEKA' for 7 times led by Tunku Abdul Rahman as the first Prime Minister of Malaya.

Well, back to how do we celebrate Merdeka. Hurmmmm....We did our countdown. All of us waited at the balcony for the fireworks and it turned out to be just 3 fireworks. The most important part is that, almost everyone from the first block till the last block were outside screaming and singing and laughing and giggling. Cheering at all the cars that passed by. Well, that was kinda messed up but yeah that's how it was. Until the end, when almost everyone got in, the security guard went out and shouted at those who were still outside (when actually it was not their fault). So, we DID celebrate Merdeka with our own way!
Again,

MERDEKA MERDEKA MERDEKA!
