It's NO PLASTIC BAG DAY!

You heard that right peeps,
Today is NO PLASTIC BAG DAY for all SELANGOR SHOPS AND SHOPPERS!

As normal Saturday at home, my family routine would be visiting Shopping Malls. And so, we went to OU today to have our lunch and to shop a little bit here and there. We were unaware that today is 'no plastic bag day' and so we did not bring any extra shopping bag for things that we bought. The problem does not arise there (OU) but it came later in the day when we went to Carrefour to buy groceries. Yes! Groceries.! Imagine this.. How do we carry all the things without plastic bags? All the fish, chicken, sugar and etc. So, take a look at the picture below to know how we carry all the things. :)

Before that I want to emphasise on certain things here. What is NO PLASTIC BAG DAY?
Yes, this so-called day is one of the State of Selangor effort to reduce the use of plastic bag in the state. As you all may know, our country or even the world is facing Global Warming that is expected to bring more harm to us in the future. And so, besides the 'Earth Hour' which is the effort from around the world, the State of Selangor took this effort to reduce Global Warming. It's a good effort though. It makes people realise that we don't actually need plastic bag. Cause as you all see below (the picture), we CAN manage without plastic bags. Eventually we will get use to it and so we will find other alternatives to solve our problem. I believe in this 'When there's a need, there's always an opportunity of inventing'. 'Invention comes from needs'. That means, when we need something we will find what ever way to solve the problem that we are facing, thus, that is called as invention.

Sometimes I ask myself : Why can't we just use paper bag like the other countries are doing like US and etc? I once asked that to my mum. And she said : Well, it is expensive. Some people just don't want to invest in that. They want to cut cost. Well, I think here is where the problem starts. For me, if we want to do things that need everyone to cooperate there's always a need for good and brilliant enforcement. That is the problem with our beloved country, Malaysia. Our enforcement system is so weak. When a complain comes to them, they will start to act but it will only lasted for one or two months. After that period of time, everything will be back to how it used to be. So, there is no consistency there. People are just not afraid! We need good enforcement body to keep this thing moving, that is if we are doing it. Unfortunately now, Malaysia is still using plastic bags. I hope Malaysians will start to use plastic bags lesser now days. It is just to contribute a-bit if not a-lot to save our Mother Nature!

SAY NO TO PLASTIC BAG!

p/s: I admit that I am one of those people who use a lot of plastic bags. And so, let us CHANGE!
